Process Industries: Global Champions Rooted in Europe

The A.SPIRE 2040 Innovation4Competitiveness Vision was published on 27 May 2026. A proposition for a new Process Industry-led Partnership for 2028-2034, the Vision charts the innovation pathways for the European Process Industries to succeed and win the global competition race. It comes at a decisive moment: the Process Industries are at the heart of most  European value chains, yet the risk of industrial decline is no longer hypothetical but already unfolding. Our choice is clear: we choose to lead.

The Vision statement: 

Powering global Process Industry leadership in high-value materials & products

Shaping a net-zero & circular future and generations Europe’s strategic autonomy for all generations

The Vision sets out three strategic ambitions: global industrial competitiveness, strategic autonomy of European value chains, and innovation-driven sustainability, and five technology focus areas to drive transformation through the next R&I Partnership (2028–2034) and beyond.
