A.SPIRE Hubs4Circularity Workshop
Exploring the Sectoral H4Cs Potential in EU Regions at the International Sustainable Energy Conference 2024
The Hubs4Circularity Concept
The Hubs4Circularity (H4C) aim to set a new model of real circularity across Europe that allows turning the closing of resource streams (energy or materials) from different sources (industry or municipalities) into a systematic reality. The potential of the H4Cs is different depending on the characteristics of the areas where the Process Industries are based. In some cases, H4Cs are being developed in areas with a relevant concentration of process industries. In other cases, as in Eastern Europe or depending on the sector (e.g., aluminium, minerals), the landscape may be more scattered, and the potential to close the loops will be focused on value chains.
The workshop Exploring the Sectoral H4Cs Potential in EU Regions takes place on the 10th of April in Graz (Austria) and is organised by A.SPIRE in the context of the ISEC 3rd International Sustainable Energy Conference 2024 - Conference for Renewable Heating and Cooling in Integrated Urban and Industrial Energy Systems. The conference’s theme is how heat transformation in renewable energy systems, resource efficiency and a comprehensive exchange between research, industry, and energy policy can lead to energy sovereignty (on the 10th and 11th of April 2024). The workshop’s facilitator and chairwoman is Àngels Orduña, the Executive Director of A.SPIRE. Among the key themes addressed will be framing Hubs4Circularity, the pathways to industrial-urban symbiosis and circular economy, the process industry perspective, emerging H4Cs from Processes4Planet projects, etc. Furthermore, the workshop will explore cases that will bring knowledge to identify the potential of H4Cs in different industrial areas and regions in Europe.
