Innovation Opportunities for the Process Industry: Horizon Europe Open Calls 2027 

In 2027, three calls, spanning renewable energy integration, critical raw material dependency, and industrial decarbonisation, offer new funding opportunities for Process Industries innovation.  

For innovative Process Industries companies, this is the moment to start shaping consortia and proposals. 

The Flagship: Clean Industrial Deal Call Continues into 2027 

First launched in 2026, the Clean Industrial Deal (CID) call continues in 2027. Highly relevant for the energy-intensive industries, the call supports innovation up to Technology Readiness Level (TRL 8) with a budget of €125 million. The topic HORIZON-CID-2027-01-01 supports the decarbonisation of energy intensive industries; it will open on 12 January 2027, with a deadline of 15 September 2027. 

Cluster 4 Processes4Planet Topics  

€88.5 million for renewable energy inputs and energy management, and the development of advanced materials and production processes to cut dependency on critical raw materials. 

Tackling efficient energy input from renewable sources and energy management in the Process Industries, HORIZON-CL4-2027-02-MAT-PROD-32 is a two-stage topic, opening on 22 September 2026, with deadlines of 2 February 2027 and 2 September 2027, and a budget of €52.5 million.  

With a budget of €36 million, the single-stage Processes4Planet topic HORIZON-CL4-2027-01-MAT-PROD-22 focuses on innovative advanced materials and new production processes – reducing dependencies on Critical and Strategic Raw Materials. It opens on 22 September 2026, with a deadline of 2 February 2027. 

The type of action supported by the two topics are IAs -  Horizon Innovation Actions.
