THREADING-CO₂ takes stock of progress at its third Periodic Review Meeting
On 10 September 2026, the THREADING-CO₂ consortium gathered in Antwerp, Belgium, for its third Periodic Review Meeting, hosted by the University of Antwerp (UANT).
The meeting marked an important opportunity to look back at the progress achieved during the project’s third reporting period (M31–M42) and discuss the latest developments with representatives of the granting authority and an external expert.
Throughout the day, partners presented advances across the different areas of THREADING-CO₂, from the scale-up of the MEG production process and the development of the pre-industrial pilot line and industrial demonstration plant, to polymer and fibre production trials, Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment, modular learning resources, communication and dissemination, and project management.
A key moment of the meeting was the visit to the pilot facilities at UANT and FAIR, offering participants the opportunity to see first-hand the technological work behind the project and the progress towards demonstrating the THREADING-CO₂ concept at larger scale.
The review also provided dedicated time for questions, discussion and feedback on each area of work, concluding with feedback from Marko Cacanoski from HaDEA and external expert Marion Irene Tobler-Rohr.
With the project now well into its implementation, the meeting provided an important opportunity to connect the different strands of work and assess progress towards THREADING-CO₂’s overall ambition: advancing a new value chain that uses captured CO₂ as a resource for the production of more sustainable polyester materials.
